Provisional Offshore Wind Skills Transition Course

Duration: Approximately 4 Weeks
Location: Great Yarmouth & Lowestoft
Subject to funding.
Approximately, 4 week course for those with an existing Level 2 or higher engineering/electrical/technical qualification who would like to transfer existing skills into the Offshore Wind Industry.
Requirements: Minimum Level 2 Maths and English. Minimum NVQ Level 2 Engineering/Electrical/Technical Qualification or equivalent. Medically fit for working at heights, physical training i.e. manual handling, firefighting etc. (An OGUK medical and Chester Step (fitness test) will be carried out including drug and alcohol screening prior to course commencement).
Includes: Phase 1 – Introduction to the offshore wind sector with opportunity to build relevant skills via courses, qualifications and experiences followed by initial assessment and selection to be able to move to Phase 2. Phase 2 – Medical, physical, drug and alcohol test, a pass is required to move into Phase 3. Phase 3 – GWO Certificates – Working at Height, First Aid, Manual Handling, Fire Awareness and Sea Survival.
Expected outcomes: Installation, commissioning, operations and maintenance technicians ready to enter offshore wind industry.
