Provisional Offshore Wind Skills Foundation Course

Duration: 7 months

Location: Great Yarmouth & Lowestoft

Subject to funding.

A 7 month Offshore Wind Foundation Course.

Requirements: Minimum of Level 2 English and Maths.  Medically fit for working at heights, physical training i.e. manual handling, firefighting etc.  (An OGUK medical and Chester Step (fitness test) will be carried out including drug and alcohol screening prior to course commencement).

Includes:  Phase 1 – Introduction to the offshore wind sector with opportunity to build relevant skills via courses, qualifications and experiences followed by initial assessment and selection to be able to move to Phase 2.  Phase 2 – wind sector recommended employer qualifications, subject to funding with a further assessment and selection to be able to move to Phase 3.  Phase 3 – Medical, physical, drug and alcohol test, a pass is required to move into Phase 4.  Phase 4 – GWO Certificates – Working at Height, First Aid, Manual Handling, Fire Awareness and Sea Survival.

Expected outcomes:  Employment into entry level installation, commissioning, operations and maintenance roles.  Progression into L2/3 technical Apprenticeships.
